Dental emergencies can be potentially serious, especially if you’re not sure where to go to get the treatment you or your child needs as quickly as possible. Knocked-Out Tooth
Do you still have the tooth? If so, hold it by the crown and rinse it carefully to remove any dirt (do not scrub it or pull off the tissue fragments). If it all possible, try to gently set it back into place. If this isn’t possible, place it in a small cup or baggie of milk (Avoid storage in water!) and be sure to bring it with you to our office. There, we can determine whether reattachment is a viable option.
Lost Dental Crown
First of all, make an appointment with our Dallas, TX office at once so that we can reattachment the lost crown as soon as possible. In the meantime, it may be possible to cement it on its appropriate tooth temporarily. Apply a small amount of dental cement, toothpaste, or denture adhesive and then carefully slip the crown back over the tooth. (Avoid superglue!)
Toothache
Thoroughly rinse your mouth with warm water and use dental floss in order to dislodge any food particles that may be causing the discomfort. Be sure not to place any aspirin or other painkiller directly against the gums near the aching tooth, as they may burn the tissue! If you still feel pain, contact us immediately.
Cut or Bitten Mouth
Apply ice to the bruised area. If you’re bleeding, apply gentle pressure to the area with clean gauze or cloth. If bleeding does not stop after 10-15 minutes or if bleeding cannot be controlled by pressure, please contact us immediately.
